Firstly a huge congratulations to these ladies as they won big at last nights IFTA Gala Television Awards for their roles played on BBC and TV3 leading show, Red Rock. You ladies deserve it all!!!
It was an honor to style two of Ireland’s leading ladies who are just owning the film industry with their savvy and rebellious characters, its only the beginning of what I see to be two very successful careers. Styling Ann and Roisin was an easy task as both young ladies were energetic and fun. Both of them could not wait to play dress up. What stylist doesn’t love that? So it made my job a complete breeze. At one point, Ann referred one of her looks to a 1970s porn star robot lol these girls are so much fun.
Being that, we our into a new season and our summer dresses are being slowly packed away. We are all ready and excited to shoot our winter woolies. Who doesn’t love to be snug and hide our chocolate bellies? I know I do. The day of the shoot was the hottest day in my mind all year, so shoot winter woolies was hard to imagine around the corner. Typical Ireland, heat waves will only be present when school begins. Thankfully I am well past that stage. The girls were complete troopers and made the day a success with their cheeky humor and infectious laughs regardless of the uncomfortable heat. We live in the best country for unpredictable weather you really are guaranteed four seasons in a day.
The first look that I styled was a beautiful vintage yellow lace coat dressed with an 80s sequence disco dress, both which are huge trends this season. You can buy this look along with many other vintage gems from my favorite boutique in Blackrock, Co.Louth called After Sybil. I have found so many amazing pieces in this boutique, one of my favorite designers that they have at the moment is Ludmila Corlateanu. Its is the only boutique in Ireland which stocks this designer but if your not from the Louth area it is still in my mind worth the trip. This is my favorite outfit on the day. There is nothing worse than purchasing a beautiful dress that is considered only for night or formal occasions. For me this is a rule I would love to break and as you can see it is very easy to do with the help of an oversized coat and boots. Layering fabrics is what winter fashion is all about. I know it’s not for everyone but it’s definitely worth a try. The following looks can be found in Topshop, River Island and H&M. Although I did not feature Zara I recommend a visit if you are revamping your winter wardrobe, it is another High street favorite for me this season. Thank you again to Ann and Roisin for being the ladies that you are and I wish you every success for the future.
