Fashion or Pain?

November 3, 2017

Who loves heels? I know I do but there is a percentage of women that refuse to endure this pain for fashion. Honestly, there are times I wish I was that smart. There really is nothing worse than being out with friends and unable to move with the sheer physical and sometimes unbearable pain. Some of us ( i.e me) choose wine as are remedy others wear flats. But what if there was a solution would you consider embracing a heel for a night? If your answer is still no then hear me out. No matter if you have a pair of flats or heels chances are new shoes have to be worn in and unfortunately, that is a painful process. So give heels a chance!!

Women who avoid wearing heels there reasons can differ but it is usually pain related. Another reason which many won’t admit is that there afraid of walking in heels and falling. It takes practice and I’m not sure if I have even mastered it myself after all these years wearing them. I won’t lie there is nothing worse than seeing a woman beautiful dressed however has embodied a Frankenstein walk. Its less than flattering. Lately, I found myself ditching the thin stiletto heel and opting for a block heel. I immediately saw a change in my mood because sore feet make you cranky no matter how nice you are there’s only so long to can hold a brave face. Besides being comfortable block heels are perfect for a casual brunch with friends or a day wandering the shops.

I have picked out some of my favorites from the high street. But remember it is winter so if you are going to wear these sandals during the day than adding a cute pair of socks into the mix. Frostbite is real and dangerous. If you are still not convinced then I have one more positive note to give. Are you a practical shopper? If so then a blocked heel is a practical buy. Although these are A/W pieces they are also perfect for a summer party. So really you are getting a shoe that fits every occasion and season.

Galway Races

August 8, 2016

Last weekend I decided following the gentle persuasion of my good friend Ellie to pick out an outfit in the space of five hours for the Galway Races Ladies Day and hop on a bus the same day to Galway. MANIC !!!. To say the day was a rush in more ways than one is a real understatement. I have so many beautiful dresses but as this is a huge social and fashion event in the Irish Calendar it gave me the perfect excuse to add something new to my wardrobe. When these opportunities occur which they regularly do, its important to have your “go to” boutique. For me it is After Sybil which you may recall from a previous post of mine. I just love this boutique. It has a deserved reputation and justifiably so for stocking some of the most beautiful dresses from exclusive designers to vintage favourites. Lucky for me it is only a ten minute drive from my house.

The dress I wore is a beautiful dusty baby blue dress from designer Ludmila Corlateanu. There are many pieces from her collection to be found however I had my eye on this one for a while and finally had the excuse to buy it. I honestly have never felt so elegant in a dress, the tailoring and overall sihiloutte was perfect for my body shape. I have always wanted to have an Audrey Hepburn moment and embrace her classic style, this dress I feel ticked every box of Hollywood Glamour. Personally I have always been afraid to wear high neck tops, simply because I have become very busty in recent years but trust me ladies, this dress is stitched to perfection. For me I did not wear a bra and the dress didn’t need it. You know you have found an incredible designer when you can wear a dress without a bra and feel so secure in it.

As many of you know, Ladies day is not only about wearing the perfect dress but it is also about finding the most daring hat to compliment it and hopefully stand out. Walking into the races was something I have never experienced before and it was so exciting. So many women experiment with their style of hat and were not afraid to be noticed. I loved every minute of it. Vibrant, beautiful, stylish and really buzzing, whats not to love ? Millinery is huge here in Ireland at the moment and I adore how women embrace this fashion accessory for just about every social occasion. For me it really makes an outfit, so it was really important that I selected the right hat to complete my outfit. My favourite millinery designer has to be Carol Kennelly, her collection of hats are so diverse, fun, delicate, intricate, timeless but brilliantly different. No matter what your personalty is, Carol has adopted all these elements into her design making her in my mind the best of the best. I had seen Carol’s collection while attending her show in New York Fashion Week. I have always wanted to own a Carol Kennelly piece and I am so proud to now say I now do. The hat I wore is called Gigi which is a silver box hat encrusted with jewels. A perfect statement piece that pulled my entire look together. It is not something you should really admit but I have honestly never felt more beautiful. If I could wear a Carol Kennelly hat every day I would.

My friend Ellie bought her dress also from After Sybil and created a completely different look. We may have both worn blue but it just goes to show how different each women’s personal style is. I loved her look, she is never afraid to experiment with her fashion. A true Lawless lady in my books, in more ways than one lol. To get both of are looks visit After Sybil in Blackrock Dundalk.

Favorite Finds for Xmas

December 16, 2015

Christmas is such a fun time but finding that perfect gift is really hard (especially for all those boyfriends out there). So I wanted to show you ladies all my favorite finds so far from this season. Whether it’s a hint to someone close or just a small present to yourself I know you will love my Christmas selection, so take a peak.

Firstly, how can you start of winter without a strong selection of winter accessories. It really is unheard of, no excuses allowed and if you follow Anthropologie you will be best dressed this season. Unfortunately if you are not in America you won’t be able to experience the atmosphere in the store, with beautiful decor along with a home section which is to die for. Thankfully it is accessible online visit to view the above selection and much more.

Aritiza has become my go to store and if its not yours it soon will be. Made to fit the typically New York lady with a sophisticated but edgy vibe whats not to love. No matter where you are I guarantee you will find yourself being asked when and where you got your oufit. Aritizia is known for having a strong selection of clothing but for me it will always be their collection of leather pants . I won’t name but back in Ireland I would spend so much on leather pants that would eventually wear and fade but Aritizas leather pants are perfection and will make you feel like a rock star. The above pants are 145dollars which is an expense but I do assure you will not regret it. Two blouse above are beautiful the red sheer blouse in particular I have added to my list when I return to New York and of course who can say no to a crisp white blouse (Red Blouse 185dollars, White Blouse 135dollars). To find more visit

When you have the perfect leather pants then you need a statement top and what better than Reformation. Reformation is tailored to create the most beautiful you. And if you are looking gentlemen to find something your lady will love there an endless selection that will have her smiling from ear to ear on christmas day. I love a plunging necklines and this royal blue velvet top made my heart skip a beat(128dollars). Its so beautiful and something that can be carried into every season whether its a leather pant, denim jean of a pencil skirt you can make this top your own. If you were to considering one however I personally would go for Revelry Jacket (for 168dollars) simply because its so different and I can’t imagine you will find anything more beautiful from another store.

One thing that can never go strong is shoes. Of course unless you get the wrong size but one thing that they will not do is make you feel guilty after the christmas holidays so you can each to your hearts content and look fabulous while doing it. One thing that I feel every girl should invest in is a good pair of boots. Everyone is different I personally love a chunky heel its alot more comfortable and you never have to fear cracks of cobbled roads. The ankle black boots above I love and have a similar pair myself that I wear to death and are always reliable for comfort. Another pair which can also be found on Nastygal ( are is these Jeffrey Campbell thigh high boots I think they speak for themselves. Jcrew is another favorite of mine and these blue stripy sandals are so cute. If blue is not your color then do not fear you can find these sandals in a black suede and gold embellishments. If you are not into embellishments and looking for a sandal more simply then Missguided should be your nexted search I love their selection of sandals and boots. Besides being more reasonably priced you will always find something special.

Vavavoom is a leading online store here in Ireland and you can see why. Theres a lot to chose from but these two are my favorite picks. I am a lover for bodysuits as you can change from a cute top with jeans or switch to a skirt and make it your own signature dress. My favorite part about this particular bodysuit is the sleeves which are perfect if you are self conscious like myself showing off your arms. Following onto the sweater whats not to love between the vibrant teal color and flurry texture it will be hard not to take it off all winter. (Veronique Jumper 28.99euro, Aditi Bodysuit 25.99euro). Hope you love some of my favorite finds there is more to come so keep a close eye in the next few days.

December 3, 2015

It wasn’t long ago that I remember my mum throwing a poncho on my six year old self. Besides hating it, my rebellion to this wardrobe choice was evident, as I pretended to be a ghost half the time. Luckily for me (but not at the time, lol) ponchos have made a return and I’ve left some of my childish ways behind. There have been numerous designers adding this to their collection this season perhaps influenced by fashionista and New York socialite Oliva Pamlero, who recently rocked a beautiful Burberry Cape last season.

Since then I have noticed them everywhere from vintage boutiques to my everyday addiction Asos, who are now displaying numerous options for the coming season. However, I surprisingly found mine in Topshop, as I usually would be more drawn to their selection of dresses and tops at this time of year. It’s a store I feel has gone from strength to strength in the past five years, having not only branched out Stateside but also opening two stores in the centre of two of Manhattan’s shopping avenues. Lucky for me and other girls from home, we don’t have to wait online any more and hopefully very soon River Island will also make its way here.

There are many others in the Topshop collection but this grey poncho is easily my favorite. The trim is what made it for me and when you put it on you it is really extremely comfortable. This time of year I am usually if not always wearing a black base whether its denim jean or leather pants but that’s not to say that a pair of blue denims would be perfect either. Whether you accessorize this poncho with a belt or chunky necklace it is not essential, as on its own you will turn heads. Trust me you will understand me if you decide to wear it this season.

Winter Wardrobe

November 25, 2015

To decide on one thing to get this Christmas for yourself as a little treat is a hard one to call but if that is the case then I feel it must be a stole. Whether you need it for an up and coming event or just love to wear something different, then a faux fur will be your new best friend. I personally love Topshops collection and every year they have something new. This one in particular was from last season but don’t worry Topshop is always on its game and I have already spotted one for myself. As you know, I personally love my leather jackets this time of year but a stole is the perfect addition to add color when needed. If you are not convinced by Topshops collection don’t worry. Check out Asos, this seasons collection in my opinion is its best yet. One in particular is a vibrant Jack Wills stole, this should really grab your attention. My leather pants are from Ariztiza, make sure to check this store out. I have already ordered this years latest leather pants but I do warn you ladies a waiting list is starting, so move fast!!
