Hello Yellow

April 16, 2017

2017 got off to a really great start. For me visiting New York was a huge highlight, getting back to see all my friends and family. I have been looking forward to showing off these pictures and hopefully inspiring a new colour combo for the Spring summer season. It is quite obvious I wear boots with pretty much everything, so this wardrobe post is no different. Wherever I go, what ever the season, boots will be packed. For this wardrobe post its all about Zara and why not, for me it is amazing. There really is nothing more frustrating than seeing a designer garment which is out of reach price-wise but thanks to Zara’s cunning ways and accessible designs we can now dress just as well if not better than the A-listers.

Besides Lilac yellow is a colour you will see reoccurring a lot this summer. For me personally, I love a colourful dress but especially when it has a sleeve. A perfect solution to a day were you want to be covered up but still have a summer vibe. Its all about the dramatic sleeve this year and I am absolutely looooving it ! For accessories, I also purchased my hairband from Zara which was a saver for this occasion, as the wind was not on my side. I foolishly thought when I chopped my hair this would be a problem of the past but sadly not. “60’s” fashion was the decade that truly embraced hair accessories and I am so happy to see it now return. Hopefully I will be detached from my boots this summer at some stage but knowing  my love affair with them probably not. No matter what the shoe style whether it is a heel, flat or boot there are three rules to remember 1. “Be Vibrant” and hide the black dress, we don’t need to see it this summer 2. “Be Bold”, hair accessories do not have an age limit and you will feel more glamorous for it  3. This rule is your own to make because a shoe choice says a lot about a person, so make a statement that is true to you and of course,

Hi Ladies,

So I have one question for you, who loves jumpsuits ? Because I have just found the perfect one which could possibly convince those who refuse to wear them. I can see your point, for those that aren’t too fond of them. Jumpsuits or Rompers which ever you decide to call them have one thing in common, they are not for the shy and body conscious. You really cannot hide any curve, lump or bump. I know I am really selling this but just hear me out. I feel what makes this jumpsuit different apart from its beautiful emerald green ruffle, is the fit of the pants which has a flared leg. At the moment I have been trying every way to either hide or compliment my ever growing thighs. Chocolate is a real killer but it’s a love hate relationship which I wont be giving up any time soon so I have to work with it. However no matter what size you are, I can assure you that you will feel at your best in this. The front of the jumpsuit is tailor made to be worn backless and if you are like me slightly chesty, then I would advise some body tape if you like to feel more secure, but it’s really not necessary. Why you may ask ? Well for me personally, I am always self conscious about going braless. It’s a fear most C cup ladies face when considering a sexy backless number. It is a problem we all face however one that Zara has eliminated in this instance with perfect tailoring which creates an elegant silhouette . The ruffles around the chest transform this 70s classic into a modern show stopper. You can’t help but want to add a little strut into your walk, trust me it works. For my assessories I purchased these amazing tasseled earrings for 9.99 euros in H&M. I know, I am not kidding, there are amazing. Another High street favourite which I feel you must keep a close eye one. So have I convinced you ladies?? Try it for yourself , you will never know until you try. Photography by Ralph McKeon

Formal Without The Dress

November 29, 2016

Hi Ladies,

It’s been a while since my last wardrobe post and I am so excited to share my latest purchase with you. The last few weeks have been extremely busy styling and working on several productions here in Ireland. I wanted to share with you one look in particular which I designed for the Miss Ireland Final. As I was working at the event wearing a gown it was not ideal however that didn’t mean I couldn’t be glamorous myself . Pants are my new found love and I wanted to show you just how easy it is to take an office look and reinvent it. With fashion I find there is always boundaries around certain occasions but for me, I love to challenge them and be myself. At the end of the day, dressing up is so much fun and if you get it wrong, so what ?

By reversing the idea that pants were deemed only for men at a black tie event. What do you think???. My bodysuit was made by a very talented Irish designer Caoimhe Mac Neice. Caoimhe has been identified as one to watch by Vogue and is one of my old college friends. I know lucky me. When I approached Caoimhe to make this leotard both of us wanted to create a look that would emulate a gown. My favorite part of this leotard is the sleeve which is draped just below my shoulder. For me, I personally hate this part of my arm, no matter how much I work out or position myself in a picture I feel it never looks right. For jewellery, I decided to style my outfit with one of my prize possessions , a Joanne Hynes collar. Maybe I am a little bias but I don’t think any other piece could have pulled this look together any better. As I have been a pagent girl in the past I did not want to look like a contestant, I had my moment. For me personally, I wanted to embody several elements of a mans suit but at the same time make it look as feminine as possible. If I didn’t wear the collar I feel it may have missed the mark. It’s a look I will definitely be try again.

Perfect Mini

June 6, 2016

Mini skirts for me personally are not my preferred option to wear. I used to love them when I was younger but now I like to have as much fabric as possible. Lets face, it is not a nice feeling the fear your skirt could show it all with a gust of wind or getting up from an awkward seat. For me a mini skirt has to be amazing to wear it and once again Zara has captured my attention with something I would normally say no to. For me there are so many things that make his skirt special, firstly of course it is the embroidery and secondly the fit. I decided because of my height that thigh high boots would be more suitable, as I am tall and could easily cheapen this beautiful skirt when its anything but. However now that we are in the middle of a heat wave here in Ireland I am sure a strappy sandal would be a lot more comfortable in this lovely weather. Although this is the summer collection, I know this is a piece I will continue to rotate in my wardrobe. Zara is one high street brand that is standing out this summer from the rest. I love everything about this skirt from the color to the attention of detail, it is one you need to invest in and quickly. Mix Match

May 19, 2016

So May is upon us, I cannot believe how fast this year is going. I have been home already a month and I won’t lie I wish it would slow down just a little. I’ve really missed home. This is my first summer in three years that I’ve been in Ireland and I intend on making it a fun one. As most of you know yellow is everywhere and it is the key color this summer. Many high street brands from River Island to Topshop are creating their own signature with this latest summer crazy -It’s hard to escape. For now my favorite high street summer collection has got to be Zara. It’s only in recent years that I have started to experiment with color and I know it’s not for everyone but I think I have found the perfect introduction for summer. Whether you wear vibrant clothing or just like to stick to an all black uniform Zara has what you are looking for. Zara have created two colorful leather jackets that will match perfectly with whatever color you chose.

For me I decided to pair my new leather jacket with an old treasure, my Karl Lagerfeld skirt. I love the contrast of orange and yellow and I wanted to show how easy it is to match up these two citrus colors. It’s not simple but let’s face it, red and pink matched together has lasted way too long, it’s time for a plate change.

When you are going to match anything it’s important that they complement each other but make sure there is not too much going on. Summer to me is getting to wear whatever color you want with a mix match of fabrics and of course having fun when doing it. Because both colors are extremely colorful I found that a white top and shoes would blend the citrus colors and pull the look together.

I love my boots but sometimes flats are needed when your having a long day running about. What is perfect about fashion these days is that you really can change a look from casual to formal with just a switch of a shoe. For my accessories I used my favorite designer Mary Frances for contrast but also a small addition of other colors. This yellow jacket is also available in a baby blue if this trending color is not for you. Hope you ladies try about a similar look, I would love to see what you al come up with.
